At AQS Paducah with friends Mary Ann and Cheryl! Wow! The first nearly six months of the year have gone by so quickly. Unfortunately, events of those months have forced me to put a few things aside – including blogging. But, I’m back and hope things have calmed down enough at the Hawkins’ household for me to become more regular with blogging.   If I use the excuse of “Quilt Show Chair” as the reason for my absence, many of you will understand what I’m talking about! Our Heritage Quilters of Huntsville Fanfare Quilt Show was in March. It totally took over my life in the early part of 2024! But the end result was well worth it!  Right before we opened Fanfare 2024. We had the largest show ever in terms of the number of quilts displayed, the number of people who attended, the number of vendors to shop at and the physical size of the show.   It’s 2024 and where do I start? With “Happy New Year!” of course. I sincerely hope all my family and friends had a wonderful Christmas holiday and are looking forward to an exciting 2024. The highlights of my holiday season were: the Stitchers Christmas Dinner at my house, daughter Anna singing Oh Holy Night at our church on Christmas Eve, an entertaining Christmas Eve lasagna dinner with my family and the Bloombergs that included a few crazy rounds of Uno and Christmas Day festivities at my niece Melanie’s home in Boaz. At the Hawkins’ home, we completed 2023 with a kitty cat rescue from 35 feet above! On the eve of New Year’s Eve Day, a kitty cat came over at night without an invitation or our knowledge. Our dog Penny wanted to go outside suddenly at about 10 p.m. We figured she sensed deer in our yard or maybe an opossum under the deck. After a bit of running around and sniffing and barking, she came back in. The next morning, I heard and then saw a kitty cat in a fork in one ...

  Embarrassed … That’s what I am! I have been putting off writing this blog because it’s been FOREVER since my last post. Life has simply whisked me away, including to the International Quilt Festival and the Texas Renaissance Festival, and to birthdays and Thanksgiving and Christmas fun! But I have landed once again and hope to be more consistent with future postings. Here's what's been happening: ·          Another trip across the nation! This time 12 hours down the road to Houston at the beginning of November. You may think I went there for the International Quilt Festival, but you would be wrong. My husband I and went to celebrate our daughter Anna’s birthday! Of course, a visit at the Festival was part of the agenda. Anna and I spend teh day with friend Elizabeth enjoying the quilts, doing a bit of shopping, and talking and talking!   It’s been awhile, but I’m back! It was September when I last made a blog post. My apologies to those who enjoy my blog! Rest assured, I have not lost interest. I’ve just been super busy! And, a road trip to Duluth, Minnesota, put me way behind on my monthly goals. My daughter Anna and I drove my mom all the way to the cool, breezy, misty rainy and foggy city of Duluth for a family wedding. The road trip was 17 hours and 1,000 miles one way! We faced a few challenges on the trip, but the three of us enjoyed our time together. Anna flew from Houston to Huntsville to join us for the trip. Before we left, we squeezed in a visit to my mom at the lake, where we got in a late summer swim! The water was cool, but so refreshing and fun. The next day, we took off for Duluth. It was a quick trip with few stops, but Anna and I convinced my mom that we should make our lunch stop at the National Quilt Museum in Paducah. We ate a picnic lunch and then spent about 45 minutes in the museum....
